Studio Questions

What should I / we wear?

We usually suggest wearing whatever you're comfortable in, but better yet, wear what makes you happy! We will have time for an outfit change or two so feel free to bring along a few different options. It may be worth considering what the purpose of the photoshoot is, are you looking for some fun family shots or something a little more traditional for your more conservative relatives as a gift?

Is there anything we should bring?

We have a lot of props here, but we do think your own items are a nice touch which make your portraits really personal to you and your family. A few ideas to get you started - anything that's been handmade, anything particularly sentimental or special to you, if anyone has a hobby or is part of a team, any kits or character dress up, any favourite toys, teddies or blankets etc. We have often joked that if it'll fit in the studio it's welcome - so if you have a 6ft teddy at home that you think could do with an outing then by all means, bring it along too!

Can I bring my pet?

We are a pet friendly studio! Though unfortunately we're unable to accommodate ponies or llamas... but if you've got a dog (or are brave enough to bring the cat) then they're certainly welcome here. After all, they're part of the family too!

What if my child won't sit still?

Take it from us, there's no "one size fits all" when it comes to photoshoots. We've got years of experiences and bags of patience, we're quite happy to sit and play to relax your child if they're a little shy at the beginning. We're also pretty adept at catching those gorgeous cheeky grins on super-speedy little ones too.

Can we incorporate our hobbies or careers into the photoshoot?

Absolutely! This is a really fun way to customise a family photoshoot. For example - Say Mum's a doctor, why not bring in a stethoscope for little one to listen to their teddy's heart. Or if Dad's a teacher you could bring along a few books for the kids to read, maybe even a nice shiny apple.
Alternatively if you guys support any teams or if the kids do any hobbies like ballet, football or play an instrument  then you could bring along any corresponding clothing or equipment. You can see some examples here.

Do you do any retouching?

All of the images you'll be shown will have been edited. We'll present them to you in a mix of effects such as black and white, sepia etc. When it comes to "airbrushing" we tend to do a minimum as we're focussed on more natural photography. However, if on the day of your photoshoot someone has developed a blemish or if your child has a temporary tattoo you'd forgotten all about we'd be happy to remove them during the editing process, all you need to do is ask.

How many images will be taken & when do I view them?

The amount of images taken tends to vary. Generally we'd say you'll have a minimum of 40 edited images in your collection. At the end of your photoshoot we'll arrange a date within a couple of weeks for you to return to the studio for your private viewing session. Anyone is welcome at these appointments, so if a relative is keen to have a look at your images too please feel free to invite them along.

How much will it cost / what's the average spend?

This is entirely your decision. We're not into pressure selling whatsoever, you're not under any obligation to purchase anything. We're very open with our product prices which you can see here - if you have any questions at all please get in touch.

Can I buy images digitally & how will I receive them?

You can indeed buy digital images from us. We have a range of digital image packages to choose from, which you can also build upon by adding prints, canvas frames and many more photo products are available. Digital images will be sent within 24 hours via web transfer, you'll also be able to collect a disc of any purchased images within two weeks of your viewing.

Who has the copyright of the images?

We retain the copyright to the images. You're very welcome to buy print-ready digital files on disc and via web transfer, which will include a certificate granting licence to reproduce the images for personal use. However we don't allow the use of images to be entered into competitions without our written consent or to be sold to third party companies such as stock image websites.

How do I receive printed photo products, is it possible to have them sent via post?

Any prints or photo products you order will be available to collect from the studio within two weeks of your viewing. We'll drop you a text or a Facebook message when it's all ready to collect, this will include a disc of your purchased digital images. In some cases it may be possible to post these to you once we've received them, this will incur an additional charge for postage.
